From compact task lights to modular headlamps: Discover Princeton Tec at Mission Gear Pro, your specialist retailer in Germany. Point, Switch, Charge and Ghost X take different approaches to hands-free lighting. Here is what distinguishes the models in our range, which light colours they provide and where each format makes sense.
Start with the light you actually need
A light for checking a buckle or reading a label has a different job from a brighter headlamp. Princeton Tec’s flexible-boom models let you direct light towards your hands without continually repositioning your helmet. The Ghost X MPLS takes a different approach: a compact headlamp with several mounting options.
Choose the LED configuration first, then the mounting arrangement and battery type. White light, coloured light and infrared are not interchangeable. An IR mode requires suitable night-vision equipment to be useful; it is not visible task lighting.
Point and Switch: Compact task lighting
Point MPLS White: Keep it simple
The Point MPLS White is the straightforward option: one white LED, 10 lumens and a flexible neck in an approximately 17 g package. It suits short-range jobs when you do not need colour selection or infrared. Power comes from two CR2016 coin cells; IPX4 means splash resistance, not immersion protection.
Switch MPLS IW: White light plus infrared
The Switch MPLS IW combines a white LED with an IR LED. It retains the small, flexible-neck format, weighs approximately 17 g and uses two CR2016 cells. Its white output is 10 lumens. Choose it when you want white task lighting and an infrared option without the additional RGB colour settings.
Switch RGB: Three colours and white
The Switch RGB MPLS adds programmable red, green and blue lighting alongside a 10-lumen white beam. A large button and adjustable neck keep operation simple. It uses two CR2016 cells and is rated IPX4. This white-light version does not include infrared.
Switch RGB/IR and Charge: Different priorities
Switch RGB/IR MPLS: Colour options without white light
The Switch RGB/IR MPLS combines red, green and blue with infrared. There is no white LED in this version. The programmable colour selection, flexible neck, approximately 17 g weight and CR2016 power make it a compact alternative when your setup specifically calls for RGB and IR. Do not confuse it with the white-light Switch RGB above.
Charge Pro MPLS RBIW: White, red, blue and IR
The Charge Pro MPLS RBIW provides a 55-lumen white Maxbright LED, supplemented by red, blue and infrared. It runs on one CR123 battery and has an adjustable neck. The RBIW configuration includes blue rather than green. Its IPX7 rating provides immersion protection under the manufacturer’s stated conditions.
Charge X: Broader lighting options and dual-fuel power
The Charge X combines dimmable white light up to 100 lumens with red, green, blue and IR. Its programmable colour sequence and flexible boom suit a setup requiring several lighting options. It accepts one CR123 lithium or one AA lithium/alkaline battery and is rated IP68. This is the more versatile white-light choice within our Charge range.
IRMax and Ghost X: Two distinct approaches
Charge X IRMax: Infrared is the main feature
The Charge X IRMax prioritises infrared: Princeton Tec specifies up to 420 mWr at 862 nm. White and red modes provide 10-lumen task lighting. It supports CR123 or AA power and has an IP68 rating. It is not simply a brighter white-light Charge X; choose it for its IR capability, not for maximum visible output.
Ghost X MPLS: A headlamp with modular mounting
The Ghost X MPLS offers dimmable white light up to 300 lumens, RGB modes and 940 nm infrared. Its mechanical Ghost Mode restricts activation to IR modes. The MPLS version includes headstrap, NVG, ARC and MOLLE mounting options. CR123/AA power and IP68 protection make it the headlamp-format alternative to the flexible-boom lights.
Which model fits your setup?
- Simple white task lighting: Point MPLS White.
- Compact white and IR: Switch MPLS IW.
- Programmable colours: Switch RGB with white, or Switch RGB/IR without white.
- More white output from a flexible boom: Charge Pro RBIW or Charge X.
- IR-focused illumination: Charge X IRMax.
- Headlamp format and the highest white output in our selection: Ghost X MPLS.
Check the complete mounting combination before ordering: helmet, rail type, headset arms and the adapters supplied with the selected lamp. MPLS does not mean every mount fits every helmet. Product photos may show helmets or accessories that are not included.
Colour names such as Tan, Black, OD Green and Multicam describe the housing, not the LED output. Likewise, lumens describe visible light; IR figures in mWr are a different measurement. Battery choice and light mode affect runtime, so a headline maximum runtime should not be read as hours at full brightness.
