Information for battery disposal
Battery disposal
The following information applies when we sell batteries or devices supplied with batteries. Used batteries and rechargeable batteries must be collected separately. Do not put them in household waste, packaging waste or the environment.
Free return
You are legally required to return used batteries. You can return portable waste batteries of the types we stock or have stocked, in quantities normally used by end users, free of charge to Janik Chemolli – Mission Gear Pro, Friedrichstraße 3, 71364 Winnenden, Germany. You can also use appropriate local collection points or participating retailers. No new purchase is required. Contact service@missiongearpro.com before sending batteries by post so that we can explain suitable packaging and transport requirements.
What the markings mean
The crossed-out wheeled-bin symbol means that the battery must be collected separately from unsorted municipal waste. The chemical symbols Cd and Pb identify cadmium and lead where the applicable labelling thresholds are exceeded. Older batteries may also carry Hg for mercury. Follow the markings and safety instructions on the battery.
Safe handling
Avoid short circuits: protect exposed terminals, especially those of lithium batteries, with suitable insulating tape. Keep batteries dry, away from heat and out of children’s reach. Never open, crush, burn or attempt to charge a non-rechargeable battery. Separate removable batteries from old devices if this can be done safely without destroying them. Damaged, swollen, leaking or unusually hot lithium batteries pose a fire risk. Do not send them through ordinary parcel services; contact us or your local collection point for safe handling instructions.
Avoid waste and protect resources
Use batteries carefully and observe the device manufacturer’s instructions. Where suitable, choose rechargeable batteries, maintain them correctly and extend the service life of devices. Separate collection enables preparation for reuse and recycling, helps recover valuable raw materials and reduces risks to human health and the environment from hazardous substances. Never discard batteries in public spaces. Return all spent batteries to a suitable collection system.
