Mission Gear Pro is an authorized 3M PELTOR dealer based in Germany. We carry ComTac VIII headsets, ARC rail adapters and HY80 gel ear cushions, with available products shipped from our German warehouse. Choosing a headset starts with two questions: do you need radio communication, and which wiring does your PTT (push-to-talk) unit support?
ComTac VIII: Protection without losing your surroundings
The earcups provide passive noise attenuation. External microphones and internal speakers add level-dependent environmental listening: quiet sounds can be amplified, while the electronic listening circuit limits louder signals. This helps you follow conversations and hear your surroundings without repeatedly lifting an earcup.
Mission Audio Profiles (MAP) adjust gain and frequency response for Observation, Patrol, Conversation and Comfort, with an additional Ambient Listening Off setting. The Single-COM versions also feature a noise-cancelling boom microphone. When enabled, Soundscape helps adapt radio and voice-prompt levels in continuous noise. Automatic radio-volume adjustment also requires the corresponding menu setting to be enabled.

ComTac VIII MT14H418A-02 — For hearing protection and environmental listening without an integrated radio downlead. This is the straightforward choice if you do not need radio communication. It is not a ready-to-connect Single-COM headset.
ComTac VIII Single-COM MT14H418A-38 — With a boom microphone and radio downlead in PELTOR standard wiring. Choose this version when your existing PTT or communication system specifically requires that configuration.
ComTac VIII Single-COM MT14H418A-86 — With a boom microphone and radio downlead in NATO wiring. A practical starting point when building a setup around a compatible NATO-wired tactical PTT.
All three are listed in Green and Charcoal Grey. The images show selected colours; wiring cannot reliably be identified from the headset’s appearance. Check the model number and selected variant on the product page.
PELTOR standard vs NATO: The plug is only half the story
Both Single-COM versions use the same four-contact U-174/TP-120-style connector format, but the electrical contact assignment differs. The headset’s microphone and earphone connections must match what the PTT expects. A plug that fits physically does not guarantee working receive and transmit audio.
For a new setup, NATO wiring often makes it easier to find a suitable tactical PTT. Many established third-party units use US NATO wiring, including traditional U-94-type configurations. That gives you more familiar options to check when assembling your system. Some modern PTTs support both wiring types, so PELTOR wiring is not a dead end—and NATO is not a universal compatibility guarantee.
Before ordering, check the complete combination: headset wiring, microphone type and the PTT’s exact radio connector. ComTac VIII communication models use a dynamic microphone; the required microphone adaptation or amplification depends on the radio and PTT. A simple wiring adapter does not automatically solve an impedance mismatch.
Already own a working PELTOR-wired PTT? Match the headset to it. Starting from scratch? Check NATO options first, then confirm the complete headset–PTT–radio combination.
ARC rail adapters and gel pads: Fit matters
P3ADG47-F SV/2 ARC Rail Helmet Adapters let compatible ComTac VII/VIII headsets move from a headband to suitable helmet ARC rails. Use the correct adapter generation and check the helmet’s rail system: “helmet-mounted” does not mean every rail interface is interchangeable. The helmet and headset shown in the application image are not included with the adapter pair.
HY80 / HY80-EU Gel Ear Cushions replace the ear cushions on compatible PELTOR headsets, including ComTac VIII. Their soft, conforming surface can improve comfort during longer wear, especially around eyewear. Comfort is not the same as a guaranteed better protection rating: check the approved headset–cushion combination and maintain a complete seal around each ear.
We also list the MT33/1 dynamic flex-boom microphone for compatible PELTOR headsets. It should not be confused with the MT71/1 microphone specified for ComTac VIII; check the exact headset generation before choosing a spare.
24-month manufacturer warranty
ComTac VIII headsets come with a 24-month 3M PELTOR manufacturer warranty, subject to the applicable warranty terms. If you need support, contact Mission Gear Pro with your model number and proof of purchase. We will help you with the next steps.
Two useful questions before ordering
Can you help me choose the correct ComTac and PTT combination?
Yes, we can help check the combination before you order. Send us the exact radio model, the PTT model or a clear label photo, and the ComTac version you are considering.
